Monterey/ Santa Clara, August 20, 2018: BYTON, the manufacturer of smart electric vehicles, will be showcasing the BYTON K-Byte Concept for the first time in the U.S. at Pebble Beach. Surrounded by classic limousines, elegant streamliner coupes and space-age concepts, BYTON will be giving an insight into the future of mobility at Monterey Car Week and the highlight of the event: the “Concours d’Elegance” at Pebble Beach.

“Nowhere else does the thrill for the masterpieces of yesteryear meet with the curiosity for tomorrow’s innovations in such an exciting way than at Pebble Beach”, said Carsten Breitfeld, CEO and Co-Founder, BYTON. “What is now considered a prestigious automotive classic was considered visionary decades ago, sometimes even ahead of its time. This passion for innovation and enthusiasm for mobility is what drives us at BYTON.”

The K-Byte Concept is BYTON’s innovative interpretation of a premium electric sedan. With its sleek, clean lines, the car is profound and modern while also being minimalist and pure – a clear statement of BYTON’s “New Semantics” design philosophy.

“Semantics is the study of the effect of signs. In terms of vehicle design, these signs are mainly a reflection of their time”, explained Benoît Jacob, BYTON Vice President and Chief Designer. “The streamliners of the 20s and 30s were reminiscent of the emerging aviation industry; the road cruisers of the 50s and 60s were signs of consumerism. The automotive designs that marked my own childhood are probably tailpipes as round as your arm and almighty rear spoilers – the embodiment of power and self-confidence as well as a touch of rebelliousness against tired old values. At BYTON, we see new technologies such as the electric powertrain or autonomous driving sensors as being the new symbols and challenges of automotive design. This is why we are not hiding these elements, but confidently showcasing them and using them as design statements of digital power.”

BYTON Research and Development Center in Silicon Valley

Just an hour’s drive from Pebble Beach, 450 BYTON programmers and engineers are hard at work in Santa Clara at the south end of Silicon Valley developing tomorrow’s driving experience. This is where the technical and digital solutions for BYTON’s production models are created.

In the metropolitan regions of China, the U.S. and Europe there is a need that spans countries and cultures to no longer feel that time is being wasted while in a car. In the future, BYTON users will be free to do whatever they want with their time spent in the car, and make every second count regardless of the traffic conditions. The combination of autonomous driving, broadband connectivity, high-end displays and comprehensive digital offerings will give them maximum freedom of choice in the vehicle.

On the Pacific coast, BYTON will be providing a glimpse into the future of mobility surrounded by automotive style icons and historic racing cars.
