In these unprecedented times due to the Corona Virus (Covid-19) many businesses are feeling the sheer impact of social distancing, lockdowns and self-isolation. Many see a very dark future and for those that are not directly affected, are still open to the knock on effects this will have on their own business.
The question is, can your business diversify enough to overcome this pandemic? Already pubs that provide bar meals, that are empty are offering their menus with free delivery to locals who are self-isolating, more and more companies are encouraging their employees to work from home, where possible. And, this may be the norm in the foreseeable future for those that can. Businesses are also coming up with other innovative ideas of how they can get through this crisis, a duvet manufacturer has swopped to making face masks, and a gin producer is now making hand sanitiser to meet the high demands. These are just some of the things some businesses are doing to adapt.
If your business is unable to diversify enough there is help from the government, but how long will this last, after all they do not have bottomless pockets and how long will it take before we come out the other side of this very long dark tunnel and see the light once more?
Never, have we seen such things in our lifetime and hopefully never again, but this shake up may prepare us for a brighter future and certainly change the way we live our lives, do business and although it looks bleak at present, this could actually be the wake up call our country and the world needed to progress and to think outside of the box.
What the future holds for the many businesses directly impacted, no one knows, but one thing for sure, we are a fighting nation and in the words of Churchill ‘We will never give up!’
