Barcelona, 11 February 2021. CASA SEAT is launching Literary Cafés this February, a cycle that aims to bring literature closer to the public through conversations with great authors of Spanish and Latin American literature. Organised in collaboration with the Master’s Degree in Literary Creation of the Pompeu Fabra University-Barcelona School of Management and presented by the cultural critic and writer Jorge Carrión, the cycle includes several events during the months of February, March, April and May 2021. Each of them will consist of a dialogue between the guest author and Jorge Carrión where they will talk about their work, literary creation and the relationship between literature and mobility in the context of the transformations of contemporary cities.
The first session is taking place on 19 February and features Mathias Enard as guest speaker. Enard is the author of acclaimed novels such as The perfection of the shot, winner of the Prix de la francophonie in 2004; Zone (Prix Décembre in 2008 and Prix du Livre Inter in 2009) or Compass (Prix Goncourt 2015), as well as a contributor to several cultural publications and a member of the editorial board of the magazine Inculte in Paris.
The second Literary Cafés session is scheduled for 24 February with Clara Usón as the protagonist. Her first novel, Las noches de San Juan, won the Premio Femenino Lumen in 1998. Subsequently, she published Primer vuelo, El viaje de las palabras and La Hija del Este (Premio de la Crítica, Premi Ciutat de Barcelona and Premio per la Cultura Mediterranea (Italy)), among others.
Until the end of May, authors such as Antonio Muñoz Molina (21 April), Martín Caparrós (10 March), Andrés Neuman (15 April), Juan Pablo Villalobos (29 April) and Mónica Ojeda (6 May) will be visiting the CASA SEAT auditorium. On 20 May, the cycle closes with Alicia Kopf, author of Maneres de (no) entrar a casa and Brother in Ice (Premio Documenta de Narrativa 2015, Premio Llibreter 2016 and the Critical Eye Award 2016). All the activities of the Literary Cafés series are free of charge upon reservation of tickets on the CASA SEAT website (www.casa.seat).
