Content is Key
There's no real secret to Google, all that is needed is good quality unique content. Okay, there is a little more to good search engine rankings than just good content and SEO Best Practices, but it is what sites' foundations are built on, no site gets to page one of Google with crappy or duplicated content and it is important that you ensure that all your content is of the best quality possible, whilst engaging your readers as well as including your best keywords where possible.
Yes, you do need your keywords in the content, but avoid ‘forcing’ them in, write naturally rather than to tick as many boxes as you can for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). A badly written piece that meets all Best Practices isn’t going to get you that conversion, in fact it is more likely to drive your customer or client away. You will also find when you write without trying to make it spammy full of keywords, you will start getting visitors from what we call ‘accidental’ keywords and key phrases and people that are genuinely interested in what you have to say (and offer.)
So, one effective way of adding regular unique content is in the form of either a blog, an article base or even a frequently asked questions (FAQ) page. These can be added to on a daily, weekly or monthly basis growing your content as well as strengthening existing and creating new keywords and key phrases for your website.
If you haven’t the time, nor the inclination to write your own content then consider hiring a content writer through a freelancer service. However, a word of warning, finding a good content writer is key, there are a lot of people out there offering this service but you can find yourself paying someone who has very little grasp of the English language or at worst will plagiarise other works that could end up with a copyright claim against you! Always do your due diligence, ask for references as well as previous work. You can also check this with sites such as Copyscape that will determine if they are authentic and original.
