Misuse Of Power And Its Consequences

To me the word power suggests these words and expressions:
- The ability to do or act
- Control
- Authority
- Political Ascendancy
- Authoritarian

In other words the use of power by human beings seems to me to be a double-edged sword.
When someone or a body of people wield power to genuinely protect or defend others who cannot do so for themselves I the believe it is a legitimate use of power.
When someone, or a body of people, wield power to contrive an outcome (usually to stay in power!) I believe power can be disastrous and will only result, eventually, in the downfall of those who perpetrate it!

Strange isn't it that those in the latter category never learn from history sand foresee their inevitable downfall.
Just a thought when news of the British Parliament being prorogued is making headlines.
