August 2019: MEWA, the textile service specialist, is proud to announce the launch of the MEWA MULTITEX® hazardous fluid trapping mat in the UK. This mat is the perfect underlay for repair and maintenance tasks, or in sensitive areas around machinery and equipment. It is so absorbent that it can soak up to three litres of fluids before needing to be replaced.

MEWA’s MULTITEX absorbent mat offers a simple and efficient way to keep the workplace and floor free from contamination and hazardous fluids. It replaces the need for sand, granules or plastic tubs and is a reusable solution that offers a cost-effective way to manage hazardous waste. The secret of the mat’s success is that it immediately transports fluid from the outer fabric to the absorbent, inner core, allowing the surface to remain relatively dry. Available in a 60x90cm towel format, the MEWA MULTITEX mat can be used as a standalone item, or as several mats placed side by side for larger areas.

The mat is suitable for many applications including the change of oil, brake and coolant fluids, the absorption of emulsions and solvents in the event of leaks, when disassembling engine parts, and for wrapping around oil-covered tools for storage.

MEWA’s MULTITEX absorbent mats are part of the company’s reusable service offering: used mats exchanged for new ones, with the used mats washed in an environmentally friendly, compliant way and returned, clean and ready for use again. The benefits of the mats are confirmed by existing customers in other countries: Arnaud Charriez a manufacturing mechanic at family-owned company Chandioux in Auvergne, France, says: "We put the mats in front of our machines and no longer have any oil under our shoes and consequently, nor anywhere in the workshop. Since using the collection mats, we have much less dirt”.
