A new qualification in underage sales prevention has been launched to better reflect specific job roles with the licensed and retail trade.
The Highfield Level 2 Award in Underage Sales Prevention (RFQ) is designed to assist those who are preparing to work in retail or licensed premises that offer age-restricted products and services to the public.
Based on feedback from training providers, the new qualification will allow learners to choose between five different pathways depending on their job role - the first time this has been offered by any awarding organisation.
The five pathways are:
- licensed hospitality
- restricted entertainment
- body modification
Learners who complete the qualification will understand the age restrictions, legal responsibilities and penalties that apply to their chosen pathway. They will also know how to prevent unlawful sales of age-restricted products or services.
The qualification, which can be completed in seven hours or less, has been developed by Highfield Qualifications, one of the UK's leading awarding organisations.
Jason Sprenger, Highfield Chief Executive, said, ‘We pride ourselves on listening and responding to our customers, and there was a clear demand for an underage sales qualification that was specific to job roles. This is the first time any awarding organisation has taken a bespoke rather than generic approach to this qualification, and it will give employers within those specific areas the trained and knowledgeable staff needed to operate safely and legally with confidence'.
