New Podcast series is on the Hunt for London’s top start-up businesses looking to scale-up in Industry first

LONDON/ Award winning British content company Somethin’ Else is now casting for a ground-breaking podcast series in which one of the UK’s most charismatic serial entrepreneurs and financiers, Professor Stefan Allesch-Taylor CBE, will invest up to £250,000 in one great business.

The Investor: London is the first of a planned series of international podcasts that showcase real people competing to take their businesses to the next level with unique insight into the perspective of the investor. Over 12 episodes listeners will follow three entrepreneurs as they fight to scale-up their businesses and compete to secure an investment of up to £250,000 from one of the UK’s most experienced businessmen, Professor Stefan Allesch-Taylor CBE, King's College London's very first Professor of the Practice of Entrepreneurship.

Joining Stefan will be Ashley Lopez, one of Management Today’s Top 35 under 35 Business Women (2016), private investor and the Group CEO one of the world’s fastest growing specialty coffee scale-up companies.

We hear a lot about start-ups, but The Investor: London focuses in on the most difficult, intense and emotional time in the life cycle of building a business. Thousands of hours of work have already been put in, sleep has been sacrificed, there’s a huge amount of money at stake, houses may have been re-mortgaged, friendships and the rest of life has been put on hold in order to get here. This is make or break, the point at which our entrepreneurs will succeed in proving their business is a long term proposition or admit they’ve reached the end of the road.

Professor Stefan Allesch-Taylor CBE said: “The first podcast series of its kind in the world sets a pretty high bar for us! So much is misunderstood about the relationship between investor and company – we’re going to change that. I’m looking for businesses that have a clear plan and understand the resource required to get to their next stage. In any sector.  I’m looking for people who are fun to work with and, as always, humility and a sense of humour will also be useful too!”

Steve Ackerman, Managing Director at Somethin’ Else said: “This is an exciting first for podcasting. Not only a gripping show about business but one that will offer a life changing investment at the end of the season. The show will allow us to tell great stories around entrepreneurism and business in a compelling and exciting way. Stefan is someone who is passionate about business with an incredible track record to match and we’re excited to be creating this with him.”
