Five years ago, having moved to live a few minutes’ walk from the beach, we know just how fortunate we are to be able to walk our Cavapoo Rusty every day during lockdown and take in the spectacular views. For most families however the opportunity to walk on a blue flag sandy beach in the sunshine only comes during a holiday.

Until about a week ago the message was clear, stay home and don’t come to the beach (unless you can walk there for your daily exercise). Now, as restrictions are slowly being lifted, the beach is being opened up for day visitors, in small numbers, and in time overnight visitors will once again be welcomed back. When will be the right time though? Even after the government lift restrictions for holidaying in England (from July 4 or soon after potentially?)  the answer will ultimately be a personal one in terms of when it will feel right for you……

As the owner of two family and dog-friendly self-contained self-catering holiday lets, where social distancing can be observed without difficultly, our business, like many others, has been hit hard by Covid-19. Not least because one of our properties is brand new and only welcomed its first guests the weekend before lockdown.

We are hopeful that we will be welcoming guests back here before too long. Along with many other holiday let owners we would just ask, that when you are ready to start thinking about your next holiday, whatever the season and be it for this year or next, that you consider keeping your money in the UK economy and where possible support small business owners directly.

Lockdown has been an ideal opportunity for us to develop our own book direct website which has given us something positive to focus on. Our properties, Stourwood Corner & Hengistbury Reach are located on the south coast, on the eastern edge of Bournemouth near Mudeford, Christchurch & the New Forest and within a two-hour drive of London and three hours drive of Birmingham.
